Happy New Year!!
The students of North Carolina A&T are already beginning to prepare for a new year!With the recent death of a very large asset of our Aggie Family many campus organizational functions have been halted and replaced with memorial celebrations. Though this is a time of mourning we are still continuing to stay strong as a family.This year Film Festival will continue its collaboration with (RED), an international initiativefounded by Bono and Bobby Shriver to raise awareness and money for The Global Fund.(RED) and the Vail Film Festival will host the second annual (RED) Vision Film Showcase atthe 2009 Vail Film Festival, a screening of the winning films from the (RED) Vision FilmContest. The Festival will contribute 25% of the sale of each Festival Avanti Pass to theGlobal Fund.Vail Film Festival passes and additional information are available online atwww.vailfilmfestival.org.

WORLD AIDS DAY Feat. Aggies Against AIDS and (RED)

The big day is finally here and as students stood in a line that wrapped around the entire Memorial Student Union on the campus of NC A&T many students could not wait to engage in today's World Aids Day event. In a room that has a capacity of 600 students stood around and witnessed as Aggies Against AIDS and (RED) presented 12.1.08 "World AIDS Day In Style" . The night's show featured a (RED) fashion show which featured Apple, Gap,Halmark,and Armani.Many students encounte(RED) the iconic brand for the first time. Many students were eager to come check the table out to learn more about where they could purchase (RED) products.Aggies Against AIDS featured giveaways which featured TWO FREE TICKETS to the biggest party of the year (The Black Party). Students were excited to learn more about AIDS and win big at the same time. Many students left the event feeling Inspi(RED) in more ways than one and even more excited about doing the (RED) thing next semester. Saving lives one day at a time.

As election excitement winds down the students at North Carolina A&T are quickly beginning to refocus their energy. All eyes are now on World AIDS Day. The students of Verge Modeling troop have been spending the last few days and will spend the remainder of this month practicing for what could be the Fashion Show of their lifetime. As students begin practicing another group of students is focusing their attentions on what needs to be done to make this event a success. Event Planning meetings take place every Wednesday in Sebastian and as the date quickly approaches everyone can only hope that (RED) will leave the campus of North Carolina A&T inspi(RED) to do more!

Gather(ED) Together

There's a crisis going on in Africa and the students of North Carolina A&T are concerned.October 22-24 was deemed Congo Week. Sure (RED) dollars don't go to the Congo but they do go to Africa and this was a great chance for (RED) to join forces with the African Student Society. (RED) signed up over 50 people in less than 2 hours to join the (RED) fight.It is so exciting to see how fi(RED) up students are about saving lives. We may not live in Africa but we sure are making an impact there :). Go (RED)!!

Are You Up For The(RED) Challenge?

So the past few weeks have been a bit challenging here on campus and our hopes are to get the ball rolling very soon to become a permanent vendor on campus. This week I issued a challenge here on campus to see which organization/hometown could get the most (RED) sign ups!!Over 50 people signed up during a two day period and I have decided to extend this challenge for a few more days. Get those sign ups in!!!

A Rainy Day

Yesterday we held our first event planning meeting for our Dec.1 event. Our turnout was not what we expected due to the messy weather but we did get more in depth in our planning.We have decided to partner up with our "Big 5 Organizations" on campus and have invited them to our next meeting on next Thursday. I will be tabling next week with Aggies Against AIDS so please stop by the union and check out our table :)

Gea(RED) Up For A Reason

Students at North Carolina A&T are really getting geared up about many societal issues. With the upcoming election quickly approaching many students are getting geared up about voting and others, well, they are geared up about voting as well but they are also worrying about the issues outside of the election. AIDS in America and AIDS in Africa. On Thursday night in the Sebastian Health Center Aggies Against AIDS and (RED) made it official, they would partner on campus. Excitement filled the air as Aggies Against AIDS became the second student organization to join forces with (RED) on the campus of NC A&T. The excitement quickly turned into motivation as the two groups joined forces and minds to think of the most unique way to bring people in to an event and increase International AIDS awareness on 12.1.08 (World AIDS Day). The event was officially agreed upon and marketing for this campaign will begin in weeks to come. Be prepa(RED) you have never seen a World AIDS Day event on campus like this!On a sidenote, Mom went to Hallmark and really stocked up.It looks like someone is really going to have a (RED) Christmas!

Many people seem to be really excited about what's going on at North Carolina A&T. So excited that the (RED) word has spread to one of our neighboring school's UNC-G. Please note I will noy be having events at UNC-G but I will be tabling when necessary :).On another note, today I spoke with Mike from the Triad Health Project and he has agreed to start including (RED) in his newsletter.Examples of this include: proomtion for (RED) events,volunteer trainings/opportunities,showing (RED) videos,and also updating the Triad with National (RED) news,His monthly newsletter reaches thousands of Greensboro,Winston-Salem,and High Point residents monthly via email.I am also getting a few surprises together to launch my 12.1.08 marketing campaign. Keep your eye on the blog, news will be posted here before it is announced on campus,it is kind of a BIG DEAL. On another note, register to vote :)

Blackboard Wi(RED)

Anyone who will be graduating in 2010 or higher at North Carolina A&T has grown to either hate or love the University Studies Program. This program is a series of four courses that many students generally take during their freshman year and is required in order to graduate from the university. Last week I sent out a mass email to many of the faculty members who teach within these section of university studies and two teachers have agreed to post (RED) videos on their blackboards as mandatory links that students have to view :).That is potentially 5 classes of 100 or more students that will see (RED) this week!This is showing not only (RED)'s presence outside the classroom but inside as well. Whomever said progress was a slow process surely could not have been talking about (RED).

Mid-West Aggies Go (RED)

We are currently going into our second week of school and (RED) is still in the air :). Yesterday I met with the Student Government Association Attorney General as well as the Vice President of External Affairs for the Midwest Aggies. The meeting was a success and our plans are to move forward and join together for(RED). Today I met with about 35 members of Mid-West Aggies and they seem really excited about (RED). I received about 10 sign ups for the email list and recruited 6 volunteers. Both list could have been longer but the meeting ended and people left before the sign up sheets could be passed around the entire room.This organization is in the process of possibly customizing a Mid-West Aggies (RED)shoe.I have posted a few pictures of my presentation. REQUI(RED) Introductions

Today I made a special (RED) trip to the Four Seasons Mall here in Greensboro.No, today was not a shopping day but a (RED) day.I visited both Hallmark and GAP and everyone seemed so surprised to see me. I was unable to meet the store manager(she was away but I plan to meet her soon) of Hallmark but I did meet her staff and took a few pictures of their absolutely amazing (RED) section.I also met with one of the many managers at GAP who seems absolutely thrilled about having (RED) in the area. With our help she is really hoping to build up (RED) in her store :).

Aggies Encounte(RED)

Today was the first day that (RED) appeared visibly on campus.The facebook group currently is at 374 and everything seems to be up and running. The welcome back event was a success.We had about 8 volunteers distributing fliers, stickers, buttons etc. We completely ran out of some key (RED) promotional items and people were actually coming to us asking for more.Included in this blog are a few pictures of the volunteers at work.I apologize to anyone who assisted me today that is not included in these pictures.The student body accepted (RED) with open arms and many people expressed interest in becoming a part of the movement. Go (RED)!!! :)

School begins in less than two weeks and I am looking for 20 organizations to join my (RED) campaign!SGA and Lambda Chi Alpha have agreed to officially support (RED)!2 down 18 to go!!I will be presenting (RED) to the Council of Presidents so if you are still unsure of joining forces with (RED) this should give you all the clarity you need.On another note. Alliances?

The facebook group is finally up and running and I am amazed at the response I've gotten from my student body!!Within 1 day and a half my group has skyrocketed from 5members to 289 members. Almost 200 of these members signed up willingly without my invite!I have had many organizational presidents sending me messages and emails in regards to allowing (RED) to become one of their sub groups/sub commitees since I have decided not to apply to be a campus organization.It's amazing how all these organizations are coming together to work for a common cause!I don't have any definite organizations yet that have definitely agreed to be a part of (RED) but within the next few days/weeks I hope to have good news to report back!!!(RED) is truly in the air at NC A&T!!Look Out!!

Just a quick update on what's going on. I received an email from WNAA today that they will be unable to give me a slot on the station dedicated to (RED). The specific reason for this is because college radio stations are non-promotional stations!Completely understandable.More updates coming soon!

Progress

Progress!!Progress!!It looks as if I may be adding to my (RED) team :). I emailed the editor of the local newspaper about potentially turning the paper RED for World AIDS Day.I also emailed the general manager of WNAA(Our College Station) about potentially getting a slot on the air to promote (RED). If he agrees I'm thinking of calling the segment "60 Seconds With (RED)" of course that may not be a good name if he decides to give me an hour segment which is really what I am hoping for!Now the waiting game begins. Simply waiting for everyone to contact me in regards to my inquiries :). I also had the most AMAZING IDEA in church today. My pastor at the church I attend when I am at school is a strong advocate for AIDS in Africa and because many students from my school attend this specific church I thought it would be great to turn one of our college sundays (RED). More details about that later :). I'm so exciting about what the next few months hold!

A Step In The Right Direction

Good News!!After handling logistical things with the University it looks as if I'm finally taking a step in the right direction. Alot of people have agreed to jump on board with me as my (RED) team and I'm thrilled!I spoke with Ms. Janet Latimore today from the Sebastian Health Center(the last person that I'd think I'd need to talk to about promoting (RED) on campus)and she was actually alot of help. She had heard of (RED) and had previously purchased products and was excited to find out that I had been named an Ambassador. She suggested that I join forces with Aggies Against AIDS,specifically for our December 1 event.We are also in talks about meeting within the first week of school to discuss my campus plan. I have decided that I will not try to apply an be an actual (RED) organization on campus because the process could take forever. Instead I will just join forces with already established groups. Let's just hope this works :)

The Hard Part Begins

I've been back from California for a full week now and already the time to work has began. So first off to anyone who doesn't know I have been blessed with the opportunity to be one of six college ambassadors for (RED). So what exactly is (RED)?Well Red is a brand that was created by Bono and Bobby Shriver to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. We partner with companies such as halmark,gap,motorola,microsoft,dell,converse,and many others!I have already created a group of people who have agreed to help me promote (RED) on campus; however, I can still use more volunteers.
